Our world is replete with free thinkers and trend-setters today constantly looking for what they need exactly when they need it. This is how they connect their passion points and this is precisely what is reflected in every study of current consumer psycho-graphics today.
How this translates into the real world is by consumers not wanting to be over-burdened by things that are only perceived as additional baggage that they may need to carry with them all the time. Let us look at a typical young-at-heart smart consumer who isn’t really afraid of technological innovations that are thrown at him at a blazing speed… this fellow loves to click great pictures, wants to be able to discern every nuance in a melody, might wish to project a presentation or his point-of-view without waiting to be led into an auditorium with projectors, may always wish to make the right style statement at the right moment, and never really run out of energy in whatever device he uses. Tough task, I’d say… but can anyone really argue with the go-getters in our world. They know what they want exactly when they want it.
Will such a person… and you could easily be this person… wish to be carrying kilos of unwieldy gadgets all the time? He would certainly need to carry a weighty DSLR, a complex projector, a really powerful power bank, and a heavy Bluetooth speaker besides multiple smartphones to match the moment that he has planned for his day. This doesn’t look good, right? Well, to my mind, this person will actually have to be a modern-day Goliath with a strong mind and a strong body to lug a bagful of these devices all the time. So what does he do?
This person obviously appreciates MOD-revolution.
The MOD-revolution? Now, what in blazes is this all about?
Modular, of course. And no, I am not talking about kitchen cabinets and the way shelves for a Study or seating a living room is sold. Don’t the lifestyle retailers always ask us ‘buy a shelf and add another when you have the budget or the inclination’? My home does have a lot of modular stuff in it… and so if Motorola tells me that they have a new set of smartphones that can give me the best in photography, sound, power backup, projection, and style whenever I want them, I would listen.
The Moto Mods, as they call them, supposedly transform your smartphone instantly into an entirely new device with Mods that magnetically attach to Moto Z and Moto Z Play seamlessly adding advanced functionality.
Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?
Well, it is more than interesting because the Mods that Motorola is talking about include a Hasselblad True Zoom, Moto Insta-Share Projector, JBL SoundBoost, Incipio offGRID Power Pack, and Style Shells made of Wood and Ballistic Nylon as well as Leather. These Mods have an innate ability to transform your Moto Z and Moto Z Play into exactly what you need. Yes, you can turn the Moto Z and Z Play into a movie projector, a boombox, a zoom camera and much more. In straight-forward words, you will have a smartphone with all abilities and the added power to snap-on any of these Mods at the right moment.
We’ve been brought up thinking that smartphone cameras are getting better… but listen, will they ever be up to competing with something that Hasselblad gives? Of course, the style statement that latches on with just this name is anyway unbeatable. And you can zoom into your favourite subject with Hasselblad confidence. If this isn’t incremental mobile innovation, then what is?
Talking of meaningful technology, all one needs to do is to snap-on the JBL Soundboost and get into the heart of music without struggling with weight and space issues.
The Insta-share projector is vibrant enough to let any of your projections remain visible at an instant’s notice!
Now this is something that I’d call a resurgence of the famed swiss army knife approach where you are literally walking around with all that you need when you are outdoors and camping. The Moto Z and Z Play are quite literally the transformers that you’ll be carrying in your pocket without cribbing about weight and space, as I said earlier.
The two smartphones with this Mod-ability are, in themselves, reasonably modern smartphones with all possible contemporary tech advantages.
The Moto Z, for instance, is durable yet razor thin – just 5.2 mm that makes it the world’s thinnest premium smartphone ever. It is made from military aircraft-grade aluminium and stainless steel and has a 14 cm (5.5”) Quad HD AMOLED display with the support of a powerful Qualcomm® SnapdragonTM 820 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone is equipped with a high-resolution 13MP, f1.8 camera with optical image stabilization and laser autofocus and a front-facing 5MP camera with an extra front flash and a wide angle lens. The phone also supports additional space upto 2TB2 via a microSD card though it has 64 GB of internal storage.
The Moto Z Play comes with Moto’s longest lasting smartphone battery ever with a 3510 mAh battery and a life of up to 45 hours, supports TurboPower charging allowing you to get up to 8 hours of use in just a 15 minutes’ charge and is a thin, lightweight design with a solid aluminium frame and elegant glass back. The 2.0 GHz Octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM with a 16MP laser autofocus and PDAF camera complete it.
Ah! I’m sure you’re all waiting for some mention of the price points for these devices and Mods… well, all that I am willing to reveal is that you get the cost for the price you pay because you are anyway getting all that you need when you need it, right? This is what remaining young in a world that getting older is all about… and you’re young-at-heart, aren’t you?
