Manager – Corporate Communications, BLB Group. Oct ’07 – till date
BLB is one of the leading Arbitrageurs in India. The group also controls BIFM, a leading finance education provider. My job here entails taking care of the ad artworks by co-ordinating with the in-house design team, other creative inputs that may be essential for internal or external use, and media planning etc. I am also a part of the committee that works in tandem with the CBSE and NSE for a course in financial markets management for class XI and XII students. Have edited the books that are and will be used by these students.
Manager – Corporate Communications, PT Education. Nov ’05 – Sep ‘07
Communication has always been the common link in all my job profiles but this one takes me nearest to a fuller realization of what my aptitude has been whispering to me. From effectively using technology in the garb of email and SMS to working on the ideation of media policies, from the conceptualization of creatives to coordinating with the in-house designers and the ad-agencies, from extracting the best out of media marketers to orchestrating the right PR, from yearning to learning, from the pleasure of creating to the pleasure of being complimented… one of the most satisfying times indeed.
Marketing Coordinator, Brawn Laboratories Ltd. May 2005 – August 2005
Accepted this assignment to learn new skill sets. I interacted with the All India corporate core doctor list to provide a value-addition to the efforts of the field force. The day-to-day monitoring and co-ordination of line positions up to the rank of ZSM was a part of my routine. Besides this I was also entrusted with parts of the training sessions and product management.
Medical Representative, German Remedies Ltd 1981 – May 2005
The job revolved around the magnetic gyrations of words. Thus creating convictions and selling concepts while astride finely crafted expressions was a continuous joy. Have marketed products of Schering, Boehringer Ingelheim, Asta, Homburg, Beecham, Nordmark, Falk Pharma etc.

* From Dec. 1994 to May 1995 I had gained ample experience working with computer applications as I motivated & assisted my wife when she launched her research phase at the University of York, York (UK).
* An intermediate-advanced user of software like MS Office 2007, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Dreamweaver MX, Corel Draw etc… Have also designed a few websites and have gained in expertise on the designing of advertisements, posters, pamphlets etc. One of the websites designed is on poetry. The interest in bytes is getting stronger bit by bit, so to say. I have created various websites with the aim of spreading information most of which used to generate over 1000 hits a month. Some of them are:
http://kargilvijay.tripod.com
http://passeypulse.tripod.com
http://ruskinbond.tripod.com
* The interest has helped me merge my professional life with my newly acquired skill. I have prepared quite a few PowerPoint presentations on GRL products. Some have been run in the CMEs that were conducted regularly. Even in PT, the interest and the level of skill has had an upward spiral.
P E R S O N A L
1. School time in Jhansi was brimming with literary and academic fun…..and not surprisingly, I won a fair share of awards for excellence in debates, elocution, chess, writing …and winning elections!
2. College years tended to be intoxicated with mindless rambling, an introduction to the serious art of poetry, an All India Inter-Varsity English Debate award….and my selection through CDSE (Combined Defense Service Examination) for an olive-green career.
3. From Jan. ‘78, at the IMA (Indian Military Academy). The two years there were spent training the body and mind the rigours of discipline. But a lifetime in the Indian Army was not to be.
4. Since March 1981 my association has been with the pharmaceutical industry.
5. All this while I’ve also written and published poems.
Words fascinate me!!

1. Photography
Since 1984, when I bought my first camera, a Yashica FX7, I have experimented with creativity and the documentation of moments. Now I feel equally at ease with my Digital camera as it enables me to fiddle and nudge pictures for any effect that may fancy me at a given time.
2. House Plants
More than 60 different plants help me nurture my instinct for caring as well as a healthy appreciation of the need for a robust environment.
3. Reading
A varied collection of books lead me on to continuing voyages of informed discoveries. Of late I’ve also had the opportunity to listen to books on tape. We have an enviable collection of books as well as audio books at home.
