Well, figures do figure. They make you happier. The mind feels it has got what it seeks. Figures, despite what they may still be hiding, reveal a lot… enough to titillate the mind into working harder to get fairer figures. So yes, figures figure.
‘Are you planning to write about Kareena now?’ asked Specky, with a smile that revealed curiosity.
I said, ‘No. This one isn’t about Kareena at all. This post is all about my blog.’
‘Your blog?’
I showed her the jpegs that I had snipped to be included in the post. The images were all about the statistical analysis of passey dot info, my blog and website. And seeing my rather bouncy smile, Specky asked, ‘My guess is that the figures are more sensual that the figures I thought you were thinking about!’
‘They are,’ I said, and added, ‘My blog has around 30,000 page views every month and imagine how foolish I feel about telling everyone I met that my blog has around 10,000 views.’
She said, ‘This figure does sound good. But then I hardly know anything about page views and rankings.’
I told her that rankings, page views, and unique visitors to a website were the things that the SEO guys from the SEO agency that I hired always talked about. They also talked about Alexa rankings and Google page rank… but then it is all mumbo-jumbo for me. All that matters to me is the happiness to know that there are people visiting my blog and reading what I write.
‘By the way, did I tell you that one of these site monitoring engines have declared that I have more than 96,000 pages viewed in a month and more than 60,000 people have come to view what is there on the pages!’ I was obviously excited at all these numbers that these techie sites flung at me. I shouted, ‘Specky, one even said that my blog’s estimated worth is more than $20,000. Phew! I am actually a bit breathless.’
Specky handed me my inhaler and said, ‘Stop being breathless for figures now… you really need to exercise some restraint at your age!’
Well… I loved the figures and don’t think the figures that fascinated me were concocted because the jpegs are all included in this post!

I only trust Google Analytics and like you, I’m more than happy that others are reading my blog and connecting with us.

True… but I thought I’ll talk of figures once as so many people seem to be throwing them around to prove their existence.

No, Sridevi… they’re far from amazing. The figures are just good enough to make me smile for a while. 🙂

We’re all newbies in the realm of figures, Manjulika. Truth is that they don’t matter… what matters is that there are a few people zooming in and reading what we are writing.

The figures that attract bloggers more than hour-glass figures 🙂 Now THOSE are figures that attract – may be in the far distant future I will be able to see something like this 🙂

Come on, Suresh… you are like a twinkling star, a beacon that shows people what writing is all about and what is really means. These figures, by the way, are actually horrible if you consider the kind of stats that the techie sites have. I was just making myself happier by putting up this post. 🙂

Thanks… but everybody probably has stats that resemble these. So please don’t congratulate me for anything. 🙂
