‘I’m reading Shakespeare,’ she said,
‘Will use references in my poetry
That will then be read
Not by the heart but in the head.’
That’s the trend.
He scanned window displays, read reviews
Bought only current drifts
Was on the social media with most views
And with the crowds he loved to fuse.
That’s the trend.
So it is with hair styles too
And that smartphone that you bought
In the news is what is new
Followed by all but a few.
That’s the trend.
But as I walked along a stream
I saw fish go where they willed
Though when dead, without a dream
They seemed to swim with the stream.
This too is a trend.
