The Management Dream

Dreams galore!

The bright dream of management is not just about command and control. It is not enough to say: Dreams galore! Management is like a reality driven chess-board with sixty-four squares to play on and plan about but just the four centre squares to be strategically involved in toppling the opponent. Chess is a gory game and so is getting into the right management institute. Here at PT Education we will talk about both the gory and the glory that MBA is.

Young people across the country today are enamoured by the sheen of a high-ranking business management qualification – the ubiquitous MBA. It is a popular belief that a Master’s degree in Business Administration can change career opportunities substantially. It is widely perceived as some kind of a ‘golden passport’ – a ticket to the glamorous and rewarding corporate world. An MBA from a good institute is indeed capable of being a passport to a lucrative career. The quantum and variety of career options open to you are, needless to say, unlimited.

So many dreamers, so few seats

Where is this tremendous growth in demand for a good MBA degree leading us to? There is a hot contest for the relatively few seats in top institutes. As observed over the years, lakhs of students aspire to get into a good B-school every year … They are competing for just a few thousand seats. Almost like every one of the contestants eyeing the four strategic squares on the chess-board!

Degrees galore

The term MBA is now used as a generic brand. Most of the students joining various B-schools today get different qualifications like MBA (Masters in Business Administration), PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management), PGPM (Post Graduate Programme in Management), PGDBM (Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management), PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications), PGDRM (Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management), PGDACM (Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising and Communications Management) etc.
