Some time back while reading a poem by Askok Vajpeyi, the realization came that the world rests on words and that it is words that create a world! It is through words that we achieve our spiritual high! Words have the power to reach within and also make you reach out for the sublime. It is these two facets that make life not just meaningful but also infuse it with a much deserved liveliness.
“A word too can arouse
a body just as
a leaf can
a day.”
The truth is that we have just words with us. Nothing more. It is through words that we tend to create the past, present and the future that we are experiencing. Words are the intoxicating concoctions that raise a mere mortal to the position of a God. Thoughts and words are constantly hanging out together and it is a harmony between the two that can make us reach a higher level of consciousness.
Let me give you a few examples here. When we are using mere words often and repetitively, it becomes a mantra that we are chanting and is suddenly infused with a power that transforms. How many really effective managers use negative and abusive language regularly? None. How many successful students use words that mirror an attitude of failure? None. How many criminals and defaulters use angry and subversive words and tones? Almost all. Sometimes we tend to call such specific use of language or communication as jargon. The best way around this tendency is to believe that this jargon is the first step to becoming spiritually sound.
A word touches another word, a word kisses another word, and a word rests its head between two words. A word penetrates another word, a word completes another word, and a word plumbs another word. A word dances even as it moulds silence into a quick infinity. Therefore, be aware of words and the power that resides within them. No wonder words are associated with the Gods! To float on and towards a spiritual high you must let the limitations of distressing and offensive words fall away from your thinking and allow your imagination to soar with the deepest longings in your heart. The ‘deepest longings’ are never distasteful and disconcerting…so why must the words coming out be? For even now, you are choosing your path through the limitless realm of what can be. So choose your words well.
We use words not simply to describe but also to understand. Realize that we are not so powerful that we can use a different set of words for both. The way you describe is the way you will understand. Contorted and slimy words for describing cannot be connected to the sublimity and correctness of comprehension. It is thus your intellectual capacity that is being maneuvered by your choice of words that you use in your speech. Very simply, the easiest way to become a good and successful achiever is through the words that you speak.
What you express will have a major influence on what you get. Articulate well to move forward, and you will. Being friendly with positive words is a challenge. Let the challenges inspire you. Let the possibilities encourage you.
Take every moment and fill it with magnificence. Your words will then lead you on unimpeded to a spiritual high!
