A few poems written in hinglish for some facebook contest sponsored by Samsung washing machine and Surf Excel Matic…
Poem 01
Excel sheet to kiya close aur Surf Excel ko ja pakda
Samsung lappy ka switch off, ab Samsung machine mein kapda
I love my Samsung and Excel
They make me live my life so well
Baki sab mein there is some or the other lafda!

Poem 02
You are a ladka and cannot wash kapda
They asked me to be with Samsung and Excel
Or there will be a great lafda!
I said: OK, baba, I don’t want lafda
So I went out and bought Surf Excel
And, in my Samsung machine, I washed kapda!
Now they silently watch me wash kapda
In Surf Excel and I hop from one Samsung
To another… there is now no lafda!

Poem 03
“Arre mom nahin, na hoon main female
Bus shauq hai to wear clean kapda
Automatic machine ka sapna apna
Dalo Excel Matic aur dho lo kapda!
But I wash with sabun, bahut hai lafda
Aur phir time spent bhi itna zyada
But what to do, I love washing kapda
Ab jeet jaoon ek machine tab ho fayda!”
This is what mere son ne kaha
Toh maine kaha: Go and do your homework
We have Samsung and Excel matic yahan
You study and stop behaving like a jerk!
But the truth let me tell you ji
Is that we don’t have any of these
We imagine, because yeh toh hai free
Agar hame mil jae, toh we’ll say ‘cheeze!’

Poem 04
(Note: This parody is based on a popular song from a Hindi film)
Na main dhobi, na presswala
Jo yeh kapde mujhe de diye Senorita
Magar Excelmatic aur Samsung machine
Mein wash karke accha laga hai Senorita
Ab toh baahon mein mujko ghero
You understand na Senorita
Saaf kapde agar mil paayen
Life mein yeh bhi kam hai kya
Surf ki duniya mein aao kho jaayen
Aur Samsung ke sung dhoom machayen Senorita
Suno suno Senorita kehta hain hum kya
Hinglish ke in shabdon se
Kahi sacchi ek kahani hai Senorita
Ab iccha hai kuch jeetne ki
Kyunki na mere pas matic na koi machine Senorita
Ab toh jeetne do mujko
Samjhi na senorita

Aren’t you too magnanimous with your praise, Ekta? These were little nonsense poems written for a contest on Facebook… and will probably never be anything more. (Unless they win me something… and then they’ll be precious!) 🙂
