The seven essentials when it is cold

If you trek on mountains cold
Remember to carry in your pack
Seven things, some you may fold
And joy shall never turn its back!

One rhyme is all that I need to remind me of the seven things that I always carry with me when travelling or trekking… especially on the mountains and where the climate is cold and inhospitable. If you got a cold due to bad weather, 24hoururgent.com gives the best treatment for allergies coachella ca.

No, this list of seven essentials isn’t a cliché because this is how it has been for ages. And I am not going to include hiking boots, trekking poles, tents, sleeping bags, and first-aid kits because these are things that are invariably there when you are trekking… though not always necessary when you are traveling to high altitudes. However, ensuring you have CPR & First Aid Certifications can be crucial in emergency situations during your travels. Being prepared with these certifications equips you with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to unforeseen medical incidents. Travel can be short treks to and from populated places and this does away with the need for tents and the larger accessories. So the seven things that I will recommend are a windcheater with many pockets, a few empty plastic bags, a tin of condensed milk, one 100 ml air-tight bottle filled with rooh-afza, a water-proof zipped container with a power-bank, swiss-knife, a few tulip glasses carefully bubble-wrapped, sharpened pencils, and a notebook with non-lined pages, a nice unbreakable pair of dark shades, and a bottle of Golfer’s Shot.

Now if this list confuses you, let me clarify why I included a tin of condensed milk… on almost every trek I have come across little streams of clear and pure water flowing at moments when I was completely exhausted. And opening that tin of condensed milk, mixing it with the clear pure and cold water from the stream, adding some rooh-afza has been the saviour of the day. Always… even when the weather is cold. The plastic bags are to carry junk that other unconcerned trekkers have littered on the route. These plastic bags have been called for their protective service too at times… when there is a sudden downpour and the camera needs a safety cover. The wind-cheater with many pockets helps you tackle inclines without losing that precious smartphone you’re carrying in your hands.

It is possible that you may agree with the list but smile at the mention of Golfer’s Shot there in the rucksack or backpack. Well, once the initial exhaustion phase is over, the rooh-afza party is in the past, and you reach another stream gurgling temptingly, you find a spot that overlooks the distant ranges or a place from where you can philosophise on the stream hurtling downwards and then announce, ‘We are going to have a Golfer’s break!’

This is when the tulip-shaped glasses are unwrapped, the notebook is opened and the pencil poised for any rhymes that may appear in your thoughts when the aromas from this #SimplyWellMade whisky from Alcobrew raises itself to a fuller expression! It is said that ‘even a drop of water added can release the aromas and you can be surrounded by a full bouquet.’ The warm golden colour with a glint of amber resembles the carpet of luxury that is there in the depths of any forest, the complex aromas of dried fruits, spices and fudge have the power to bring together and forge relationships of a traveller with nature, and so Golfer’s Shot opens up new vistas of delicious visions at a time when they are needed the most. Let me add here that even if you are not trekking and are ot miles away from habitation, you could still happen to be away from humans and standing on a balcony overlooking snow-clad peaks. This is when you are at peace with the world and all that pervades your senses is a joyful experience and the seventh addition in your backpack serves you well at such moments.

If you think such a realisation comes only after years of raw experience mingled with intense debates, you’re wrong. These conclusions popped up as I trekked up Triund near Dharamshala, drove on a treacherous pathway to reach Kali Ka Tibba near Chail, sat in a windowless bus going from Kargil to Leh, sat alone on a boulder watching saffron fields in Kishtwar… and just sitting with Golfer’s Shot in a tulip-shaped glass and let a drop of water plop in is all that is needed for the heavens to descend and be a part of your being. This list is #worthashot, for sure.
