No, inkjets don’t have AI yet, nor are they a threat to humanity. But if you thought they were a spent force, you are far from the truth. They have just got better and are poised to make life easier for students as well as professionals. I remember I had ditched my inkjet for a Laser printer around a decade ago and the reasons ranged from expensive ink cartridges to erratic print head behavior, from frequent replacements of cartridges to prints that failed to impress the eye.

To my surprise, officials from Canon India smiled at my apprehensions and said that inkjets have literally advanced into the future. Well, Mr. C Sukumaran, Director, Consumer System Products, Canon India, pointed out that in the modern day ‘on the run’ world, their PIXMA G series ‘enables ‘Direct Mobile Printing’, that enables access to printing on the go.’ He added that these printers would ‘deliver up to 6,000 black-and-white document pages and 7,000 colour document pages on the bundled set of 4 ink bottles.’ This obviously meant high yield and low cost of printing in the CISS or Continuous Ink Supply System category. By the way, I was also surprised to know that inkjet printers are responsible for twenty five percent of the total sales in Asia for Canon. Their G series of printers was launched in 2015 and now comes with enhanced technology that makes usability and reliability a boost.

Well, let us just say that Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering or FINE system adopted by Canon ensures not just economy in printing but also an output that is pleasing to the eyes. No jagged ends anywhere, so to say, because the print heads force ink to eject out through the nozzle by using heat and a bubble.

All this means that for the new breed of inkjet printers, the creative angle is supreme… and unbeatable. This allows creative impulses to have a real time existence and is bound to lead us towards a more satisfactory reaction to print output. These printers also have a front-facing, built-in refillable ink tank system that makes monitoring ink levels fairly easy. These tanks are spill proof and once you look at the output that is both vibrant as well as sharp, these are the printers you might want at home… or in your office. This is one of the advantages of the CISS input in the printers. The new printers that Canon has launched includes three that have wireless functions.

This isn’t all. Canon ensures that their printers have a small footprint which means that the burden of electronic and digital waste on the environment is considerably less. These are a few of those factors that have probably prompted the Canon officials to confidently remark that inkjets are poised to take a bigger pie with their focus now on B2B, B2G, and a planned penetration into the smaller town market.

For those interested, each of these printers comes with the Poster Artist Lite that makes creative expression both fun and easy. No wonder then that even in their launch in Delhi, Canon decided to involve school and college going kids to express their joy that is evident in the video that is embedded in this post.
