There is a definite shift in the way people use their laptops today. I see revelers carry them to the beach with them, trekkers work on updates while relaxing on a boulder high on mountain tops, and the urgency of remaining in touch means they are used in in trains and buses as well. Laptops are no longer devices that remain in the Study and are now seen constantly out-of-home in the sun and places where dust and humidity can be an indomitable villain for technology.
What this simply means is that people are using their laptops in both high and low temperatures, in the sand and dust, in humid conditions, and on surfaces where there is no escape from vibrations. Laptops, therefore, need to be tougher than intentions and human ambitions in more than one way. All research is focused on making laptops hardy and yet the buyer’s mind wants them to be aesthetically attractive. Quite a tall order, I must say.
‘Most laptops are either pretty or sturdy,’ I asked Alex Chung, Chief Executive Officer of Nexstgo Company Ltd., the company that owns the AVITA brand, and added, ‘but you say that the Avita liber range manages both. Are you trying to say that these laptops are some sort of commandos who can even successfully walk the ramp in a fashion show?’
Alex told me that their range of laptops also included the Primus range for business users and these pass the 12 US Military specification standards and this means that they have been tested by placing them in deep freezers, ovens, sandstorms, and even under splashes of water. He smiled and said, ‘These devices are fashion-forward and high-performance. Our brand philosophy is to allow our customers to express themselves through technology, and we aim to do this with our vibrant LIBER range.’ Well, I must add here that the 12 US Military specs include a device surviving successfully between 25 deg C to 65 deg C over 24 hour cycles, in -20 deg C over 72 hour cycles, in 95% humidity at 65 deg C, must be able to withstand multiple tests of vibrations, remain operable at 15,000 ft, smile even after 24 hour cycles in solar radiation and a lot more. All this does make a laptop tough.
The Nexstgo Primus range is genetically coded to be both strong and reliable. They have a flawless hinge clearance, come with flat screen openings, and are a mathematical delight with direct lines and flat surfaces. The Primus NX101 (14”) and NX201 (15.6”) are business laptops that are built to last long and remain secure. They come with Dolby audio premium DAX2 giving a wholesome surround sound experience, full HD IR camera for clarity and resolution, smart amplifier, audio optimizer, a far-field microphone, is optimized for Cortana, and a battery that goes on for 12 hours.
Their Avita Liber range is designed to colour up your life. Seema Bhatnagar, Country Manager, Nexstgo India remarked that this range is, ‘going to be the answer for the tech savvy youth of India. Its contemporary features coupled up with quirky aesthetics in colour and design options will definitely appeal to the young corporates.’ What I saw in the demo zone during the launch were laptops that displayed an easy convergence of technology and fashion. These are machines that come with default lightweight (from 1.37kg) and sport a sleek casing which measures 5mm at its thinnest point. The AVITA LIBER comes in two display sizes of 13.3” and 14” with an FHD (1920×1080) resolution. Battery life lasts up to 10 hours to accommodate everyday needs. AVITA LIBER is also equipped with a multi-functional USB-C port which supports the quick charge, data transfer, and display connectivity. Two USB 3.0 ports are also available for connecting different devices and accessories to extend versatility. Last but not least, expect speediest online capabilities with its Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
The Avita Liber range has devices with whole piece aluminum chassis coated with vibrant colours… and some with a distinct design. The five patterns that were on display were charmers and I was informed that customers would soon have the option of getting customized casing patterns reflecting their personal fashion and style ideas. Imagine walking around with a laptop that has a casing design that is a print of your own hand-drawn Warli or Madhubani.
The laptop segment in India is going to get tougher with the Avita Liber range made available on Amazon, Flipkart, Tata Cliq & Paytm and leading retailers like Viveks, Alfa, Dhruv Sales and Croma by end of January, 2019.

Note: Price starts from INR 27,990 and goes up to INR 83,990. AVITA is offering 3 years International Warranty as launch offer on online registration on all their laptops range.
