The future is poised to arrive seamlessly for everyone in India. Among other parameters is obviously the potential to own and use technology effectively. One doesn’t necessarily have to drive an expensive car to be able to afford a smartphone that connects with all new-age aspirations. Yes, even the youth of Tier-III and Tier-IV cities have it in them to capture the attention of decision-makers, ride the communication wave, and even win hearts through charming selfies. When this happens without a hitch, we can safely assume that the future has arrived seamlessly.
Reports say that we have around 8 Tier I cities, 26 Tier II cities, 33 Tier III cities, over 5,000 Tier IV towns, and more than 638,000 villages in the country. One media estimate proclaims that Tier-III and Tier-IV cities are emerging SME hubs. Disposable incomes are on the rise. The truth is that if fiscal parameters are analysed, even bigger cities and metro towns have large segments of resident population that matches the affordability-limits of smaller towns. This simply means that the spirit and aspirations of Tier-II, III, and IV are also right inside Tier-I and thus for smartphone sales to graphs to show happy smiles, they would ideally have to be in the 5 to 10 thousand segment.
A below 10k smartphone that matches the expensive ones. Really?
Well, this is what India needs. After all, if we want the future to arrive seamlessly, we need everyone to be able harness the potential of innovative technology. Let me talk about this facet by bringing in the new smartphone launched by Mobiistar – the X1 Notch. This phone come in 2 variants – 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM and 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM – with price tags of INR 8,499 and INR 9,499 respectively.
The affordability of this phone is evident and at this price the X1 Notch that comes with a comfortable screen size of 14.4cms and a vibrant HD+ display, has full view notch display, so users can watch movies and play games without ungainly obstacles. Mobiistar’s X1 Notch is an excellent example of the sort of combination of aesthetics and functional technology that follow all the latest smartphone trends at affordable prices. The gradient shine body, 2.5D curved glass and dual tone colours, and the fact that is available in 3 dazzling colours – Gradient Shine, Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue are enough if only looks matter. But they never do in today’s selfie-stricken world.
Quite obviously then, it is the other features that must also be representative of the specifications that are essential these days. Let us first talk about the camera and its performance. This Mobiistar device has an AI enabled selfie camera which simply means that the user can automatically optimize lighting conditions to shoot sharper and clear shots in both bright and low light situations. The usually demanded beauty mode with a 7-level face beauty feature and electrifying filters add to the ethereal charm of the 13 MP selfie and rear cameras. My experiments with with Mobiistar X1 Notch as I went around clicking the masks around my home can be found in my post titled: Look Who’s Watching Me. As I have already handled the smartphone’s camera I believe I say with certainty that the output is good. However, the results can be a trifle abstract if the subject moves or if the hand gets restless which means that older people or those with tremors may not get to click what they see. When the conditions are really dark the output has noise but then I guess it is the sensor and the software algorithm that need an upgrade. The sharpness and the colours otherwise are fine enough for a smartphone in the price-band that it is in. I agree with Carl Ngo Co-founder and CEO of Mobiistar, India and Global when he remarked that ‘this stunning smartphone brings latest trends in technology at a very compelling price for its users. With a strong focus on selfies, this device comes with a 13 MP AI selfie camera, modern design notch display and gradient shine body. We have high hopes for this phone in the market and are confident that the X1 Notch will win many hearts just like our other products have been doing so far.’
This phone comes with face unlock, smart unlock, dual VoLTE, a battery capacity of 3020 mAh, one earphone, and an instant cashback scheme from Jio… and all this is in addition to the 500 distributors on board with a retail presence of 32,000, a thousand service centres already in place across the country, and a presence in 475 cities and 27 states. After-sales is definitely not going to an issue with a Mobiistar device.
Coming back to my premise of future arriving seamlessly let me add here that according to Business Today, ‘last year’s survey had showed that India’s richest 1% held 58% of the country’s total wealth, which was higher than the global figure of about 50%. According to the latest survey, the wealth of this elite group increased by over Rs 20.9 lakh crore during the period under review-an amount close to the total expenditure estimated in the Union Budget 2017. India’s top 1% of the population now holds 73% of the wealth while 67 crore citizens, comprising the country’s poorest half, saw their wealth rise by just 1%’. My sensibilities tell me that the surest way to join this gang of the rich is by NOT spending an unnecessary amount of money buying gadgets and devices that go over-board in their pricing structure. Most of the features that most users get accustomed to and actually use are there in this sub-10k phone which means it contributes to a realization of their dreams in more than one way – by giving them all they want to use at a price that helps then save money that they would otherwise have spent. This is why I choose to call the Mobiistar X1 Notch a sensible smartphone. Aniruddha Deb, Chief Marketing Officer, Mobiistar India agrees with point of view when he told me that the ‘X1 Notch is an interesting take on our consumer’s life since it showcases how the phone is not only adding value to lives but also enabling people realise their dreams.’
