That space between the lines
Remains mute for most
Like a feast where nothing is served.
Those who can, will
See a cache of blood-stained knives
And say: It is well-deserved.
There can be barbed wires
Gently palming and calming
Desperation that wants to escape.
Or incomplete pictures
Of nearly forgotten treks
Through the human landscape.
That space between the lines
Sometimes needs
A closer investigation…
With a magnifying glass
Or a conversation
With a child’s curiosity.
