A tablet with a dual SIM isn’t a rarity today. I mean, in such a case, voice calling is obvious. So why will I even say that the Swipe Slice is a slice of happiness. I have not one but ten reasons to say this.
Well, the specs of this tab are probably as good as any other available today… and I must admit that there will be brands there with better specs. But then life with a tab isn’t always about specs, is it? Though if I were getting Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 in a body that was run by a 1.3 GHz Dual Core processor, I wouldn’t have many reasons to worry or crib. Yes, 2.0 MP rear camera isn’t the best and the 0.3 MP front camera too isn’t what I would look forward to for a nice clear online video chat… but if I tell you that this tab has the advantage of FM recording, would it not make you sit straight?
Yes, an FM radio recording was what impressed me first… and I immediately tuned into my favourite channel and even recorded the song. Listening to it later was more than just fun… and I knew this was a killer feature.
Looking for some of the other unique features, I stumbled upon the pre-loaded apps and programs for students. So I simply called in Specky, my wife and asked her, ‘What do you make of these programs like the Math Formulas, eTeach, and Periodic Table?’
Specky fiddled with the tab for a few minutes and then said, ‘Let me be with the tab for some more time.’ After another half hour I had to literally snatch it from her hands, saying, ‘Listen, I need to write my review. And you need to tell me if you approve of these?’
‘Obviously I do,’ she said, ‘the maths formulas aren’t just a random selection but quite exhaustive and the program is almost like a mini mathematical reckoner. I am loving it. So is this one where the elements are discussed at length and the periodic table doesn’t remain an enigma.’ So well, with the academics done… and this means that the tab has all the potential to be a hit with students, I decided to move on to professionals like me.
I need a gadget that helps me record my interviews without hassles… and now I hear a lot of you shouting, ‘But a recorder is there in every gadget! What’s so unique about its presence?’ Well, many of my interviews happen on the telephone… and so the facility of call recording that I see as a bundled part of this tab comes as a pleasant surprise indeed.
The two widgets that impressed me most in the Swipe Slice are the Vaults and App Lock. Well, the vaults are like your own personal safe where you can lock up your personal text files, audio files, pictures, and other documents that can then be accessed only through a password. What surprised me was that once a picture, for instance, was put in the vaults, there wasn’t even a trace of it in the gallery. I mean, nothing to even indicate that there is another picture that is there but cannot be viewed. Yes, this gadget made me feel like a secret agent about to launch into a thrilling assignment. The App Lock is there to lock a apps that you wouldn’t want anyone else to use… and the access isn’t mysterious or hidden… but easy to reach. So you can even lock receiving calls if you so wish!
The final two wonder moments residing in this tab are the external storage… and I can tell you that the OTG that comes with the device can link up to your pen drive… and you can transfer pictures, documents, and even audio and video files in a jiffy. I transferred a song to my pen-drive and from there into the tab… and I now have all the reason to be happy. This advantage of having a temporary external device makes files transfers so much faster than those devices like the iPhone where there is too much regimentation of protocols to follow.
And finally I simply loved the swipe keyboard… as until now I had a feeling that only a few of the top and expensive brands were privy to it… or it had to be bought by paying a price. But no, the Swipe Slice gives its patrons a swipe advantage free of cost… and I simply accepted this gift with a smile. To top everything else, the price is much lower than you can think of even in your wildest imagination… an MRP of 6K means nothing can be costing less than this one that has a good sturdy case, a colourful existence, and a joy to tap and swipe on!
So yes, the swipe slice is indeed akin to a slice of happiness to me… I am sure Swipe is tuned in to all the latest innovations and they would keep including some really wonderful things in whichever gadget they will now introduce.
