The world of twitter and its regiments of hashtags and handles has its share of runaway convicts called RTs. This tweeting world also has spammers sending inane tweets like unthinking bullets coming from some unstoppable LMG… and then there are the plagiarists who don’t have qualms about stealing even 140 character gems! Yes sir, the tweeting world is quirky but full of its special unexpectedness.

Now let me also tell you that I love rhyming my tweets. I mean, it is such a smiling challenge to manage sense that rhymes in barely 140 characters, which can be considerably less at times if a handle and a hashtag need to be thrown in. I’ve tweeted even about gadgets in rhymes… so rhyming tweets for travel, politics, books, movies, and even shopping wouldn’t come as a surprise. On one such poetic rope-walk high above where the conventional tweeple abound, I met Jayanti Chatterjee… and soon enough we began our conversation in earnest in tweets that rhymed. Now, I don’t have a record of our earlier conversations, but the one we had today is all here with me and I intend sharing the entire lot through this post.

Enjoy our conversation:

Arvind Passey:

Good to do what others cannot match
Finding a niche is life’s greatest catch!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

It’s been a long while since I replied
Your poetic stance has nowhere near died!

Arvind Passey:

So you’re back on the road that rhymes
With words that simply embrace chimes!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

You are kind with your words of tweet,
Unlike you, I am not a social media ‘freak’ 🙂

(Sorry, couldn’t find a word to rhyme!)

Arvind Passey:

Well, I’m sure there is nothing wrong being a freak
A freak, some say, is the greatest fan… theek?

Jayanti Chatterjee:

True – but I meant it in the nicest way!

Arvind Passey:

Sure, social media ‘freaks’ are young & energetic
So I love being a ‘freak’ without being apologetic!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

So I dabble in tweets when the mood takes me
And try to keep abreast of worldly babble that shakes me!

Arvind Passey:

Yes, we live to see cartoonists get killed
And fighters for rights get stilled!

*

Yes, the world’s a wicked babble! 🙂

Jayanti Chatterjee:

Totally, totally and totally agree
The world’s wicked babble is too much for the likes of me!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

So did you ‘freak out’ when Facebook went down?
I know for a fact that you’re an Instagram hound!

Arvind Passey:

I was worried and restarted byte-engines thrice
Even tried predicting the future of Facebook throwing a dice!

Arvind Passey:

But I guess, with Obama and his beast here
The online routes will, by and large, remain unclear!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

As for me not being a social media freak
I totally enjoy the distance that I keep!

Arvind Passey:

This conversation in rhymes is a boon today
As skies are overcast and all over its grey!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

As for me, I heaved a sigh of relief
And thought – thanks heavens the babble has ceased!

Arvind Passey:

If you’re on Facebook, let us connect
And give these rhymes an FB deflect!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

I am on FB perforce it is true
But fear our repartee there will be dismally skewed!

Arvind Passey:

It is fine then, let twitter handle our rhyming tweets well
Facebook just might get drowned in our rhyming swells!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

Totally, totally totally agree,
FB would just be too much for me!

Arvind Passey:

This time, I’ll try to put this tweet conversation
In a post on my blog as a befitting summation!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

You go right ahead and do just that
It should give me inspiration to tweet rhymes off pat!

Arvind Passey:

‘Twitter rhymesters in conversation’ seems fit
Might encourage others to also rhyme a bit!

Arvind Passey:

In rhymes, I once reviewed a smartphone too
And it remained tech through and through!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

Rhyming is not everyone’s cup of tea
However, it would be nice to try it and see!

Jayanti Chatterjee:

The smart phone instance I remember so well
We started our rhyming at that moment in time I can tell.

Arvind Passey:

Yes, I recollect that contest where I rhymed to lose
But who are we to comment on what judges choose?

Jayanti Chatterjee:

Well, smart phone aside, we will continue our repartee
To rhyme is such fun as well as brainee!

I wish… and I’m sure a lot of people on twitter would agree, that a bit of rhyming bytes on twitter will do everyone a lot of good. Even hurling abuses in rhymes would make the effort so artsy, wouldn’t it? And if the trend to rhyme on twitter catches up, we just might have even politicians addressing massive rallies and cursing their opponents in classy rhymes. This is the sort of epidemic that wouldn’t need antidotes ever.

Let us all rhyme to fit inside a tweet
Life then would be an angelic beat!

Must mention here that the twitter conversation here actually began with the rhyme that I had tweeted as a reply to what Manu Seth tweeted.

Manu Seth @SethManu1  tweeted on Jan 10:

If drop of water falls in a lake, there is no identity. But if it falls on a leaf it shines…So choose the best place where your ability shines…

@arvindpassey replied: @SethManu1
