Politicians gearing up for their swearing-in, swearing fringe groups, fans swearing by their favourite technology, and Valentine’s Day spirit are coming together this year… and these combos are quite evident in Delhi. I have a feeling that Walt Whitman’s lines also converge well with so much in the air here.

Shall we stick by each other as long as we live?
Let me admit that I am a big fan of politics that swears to wipe out corruption from the nation. Besides this, I am also a fan of technology. However, when it comes to declaring my valentine, the choice unanimously goes to Specky, my wife… and as I wrote this I found her standing by me, smile, and ask, ‘You find smartphones quite fascinating. I wonder which one of them you’d choose as your valentine, if given a choice…’
I added, ‘…and if you allow. Right?’
‘I allow you to choose a smartphone of your choice as your valentine this year,’ she declared magnanimously.
Without wasting even a minute I told her that it was the Asus Zenfone 6 A601CG that I would unequivocally choose as my valentine. ‘And you’ll be surprised if I told you that the primary reason wouldn’t be the phone but the absolutely gorgeous and colourful bumpers and cases,’ I said, and added, ‘after all it is what the eyes first see that make the heart go blippety-blip and tippety-tip, doesn’t it?’
Specky gave a smile that said: Yes, I know what you men are forever looking for… but asked, ‘I need five really good reasons.’ And I gave them all to her.
Reason 1: Large photo-receptors
‘Well, I’d love my valentine to capture large resolution and clear picture every time she looks at me and blinks,’ I said as I explained to her that I would go for a phone that had wonderfully large photo-receptors and had the super advantage of a 13 megapixels HD camera. After all, what is life with a valentine who doesn’t have a great image bank of her beau? And this, incidentally is what Specky is in real life… she does have images of me in every possible posture in her mind.
Reason 2: An HD show-off
My second reason was a close cousin of the first because a large image bank is of no use if she doesn’t go around showing-off the kind of person she has as her valentine. So obviously I’d want her to be as much akin to the 6 inch HD screen that my choice of an Asus Zenfone has. Just imagine having a valentine who is like a gorgeous HD display with a resilient anti-fingerprint coating featuring a 10-finger multi-touch panel! The world would surely love me for having a valentine as powerful as her. Well, look at Specky’s social media platforms and you’ll know that she is a real 6-inch HD display for my talents!
Reason 3: Energetic companion
Would anyone want a valentine who excuses herself just as the party begins and insists on being towed back home because she wants to recharge herself for the next day? I mean, she may be putting clothes into the washing-machine and keeping one ear for the cooker whistle even as her mind is on the preparation for the official meeting the next day… and if I ask her, ‘Why do you think the fringe groups in India deserve to be shrugged off?’… she will simply turn and give me the most reason-filled answer. Now this is precisely what the hyper threading technology of the Asus zenfone that promotes it over every other smartphone to becoming my valentine!

The truth is that it does. The phone comes with Google Maps and A-GPS for route navigation and will make sure that you are never at a loss for direction. I mean, with a smartphone in your hands and looking directionless is something that no right-thinking man would ever want.
Now, are these the only reasons why I might choose the Asus Zenfone 6 A601CG as my valentine. Not at all.
