Since school I have been told umpteen times that time is gold or platinum or titanium or… well, something precious and never to be wasted. But the past few years have seen me literally wasting precious minutes finding the right app on my smartphone.
‘Hey! Aren’t smartphones supposed to be smart and faster?’
Yes, they are smarter and faster… and yet slower. This is because we have a rather enhanced perception of time now. Look at what a person does with a smartphone… he will first struggle to remember where the button to switch the phone ON is, then wait for the welcome screen, then think of where the icon for the camera is and only then after swishing his fingers about for precious seconds does he happily tap gingerly on the icon and is ready to shoot. Phew! If this isn’t wasting time then what is? Imagine a person clicking just 10 pictures every day for 365 days and wasting 20 seconds every time. A rough calculation tells me that this means around 3 minutes every day and almost one complete day wasted in a year just finding the camera app on your phone!
Now do a similar calculation for the front camera for selfies, for opening the browser for emails, and for opening the phone dialler… and you’ll know you’ll be richer by a few days every year if you either STOP doing all this OR just experience the new ASUS Zenfone Max before making a smartphone buying decision. The truth is that good things must happen without a break… because that is how they add life to your years!
‘How does the Zenfone Max help me? Is it different from other smartphones?’
Well, the Asus Zenfone Max has a rather innovative UI that they call ZenUI and one of the features of this UI is Touch Gesture. I’d call this feature intuitively productive because all you need to do is to use your finger to write w for browser, s for selfies, c for camera, e for email, and v for dialing on the screen even in a closed phone and the desired app will be launched even before your eye blinks! This is great for those who consider time management as supremely vital for their lives… but this is not all that the phone has.
The ZenUI has ensured that you save the money you might have paid to purchase a separate device for ebooks. People spend a lot to buy ebook-readers that harp on perfect reading ambiance. The Bluelight Filter Mode in the Zenfone Max achieves this for comfortable reading and thus ensures that eye-strain is reduced while reading because of an adjustable display.
There is a lot about the innovative UI of this smartphone that I’d want to go on and on… but let me come to a feature that makes this device a real winner. The battery does NOT whine. The phone has a monster battery — a 5000mAh cell custom-crafted from lithium-polymer to pack the maximum energy into the minimum space! By the way, this battery even turns into a power bank, allowing you to draw on its incredibly long-lasting 5000mAh battery to charge other devices. The strength means that you get up to 37.6 hours of 3G talktime or up to 32.5 hours of wi-fi web browsing or up to 22.6 hours of video playback. This also implies that there is a total of 38.1 days of standby time, if that is what is needed. The single digit claims of the battery component of other phones are no longer enough.
The ASUS Zenfone Max has a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with up to 2GB of RAM. The phone has a striking metal-effect bezel, the rear etching provides great tactility for added grip, and the overall look and feel of embossed leather gives a premium touch. The 5.5″ screen makes me fondly call it a phablet and though the 2 GB RAM makes me restless, I’d bear with this little inconvenience because the cost is just 9,999 and enough to win hearts!
I am never happy unless I have talked about the camera of a phone. Let me just say that this phone has a 13MP PixelMaster camera with f/2.0-aperture lens that captures stunning, high-resolution photos with zero shutter lag. Low light photography capability is enhanced and the camera clicks up to 400% brighter photos at night without the need for a flash. Even the front camera comes with a 85 degree wide-angle. The Toshiba sensor makes sure that the output is as good as most people want.
For those who intend buying this smartphone (and there will be only a few who still wouldn’t) the phone includes 100 GB Google drive storage for two years and can be redeemed in the Google Drive App before 01 April, 2018.
There is a lot of good happening on the innovations front so far as mobile devices are concerned… and believe me, this phone isn’t the final word. So let us hope the next one will be better in many ways. As I said, good things must happen without a break! This is because lives are now made simple, better, and faster as passion meets your need for an incredible quest for excellence in the form of the new ASUS Zenfone Max.
