What do I think of freedom?
Does it come with Tsardom or Czardom?
Or Sheikhdom, chiefdom, Queendom, Princedom?
No, these are nowhere near freedom!
What is freedom?
Well, is it found in gypsydom?
Or Pagandom, Rebeldom, Saintdom?
Or Hippiedom, Gangsterdom, Heathendom?
No, no, I thought, these are too random.
What is freedom?
I searched then in Kaiserdom
And Bachelordom, Officialdom, Computerdom
I even toyed with Superstardom and Kingdom
Found them random or superrandom.
What is freedom?
To fill the gaps, I thought of clerkdom
Then went on to Bossdom, Wifedom, and Selfdom
And even searched in Popedom, Shahdom, and Fiefdom
But could not find any wisdom.
What is freedom?
I even thought of the naughty Condom
And saucy Filmdom, haughty Earldom
Intriguing Heirdom, Whoredom, and Unwisdom
None defined freedom!
What is freedom?
Is it a word, a silence
Peace or violence?
Is it a habit, a thought
Or a thing to be bought?
I think freedom is the right
For everything in and out of sight
To be the way they are
In peace or at war!

not sure i agree with the conclusion, but really liked the interesting play on words trying to reach that conclusion –
and, your searching and the stating of what is freedom is itself, i can’t help feeling, is a part of the definition of freedom in motion –
plus, not that i have a definition, but certainly think it’s worth the effort of trying to identify

Yes Adan, the best interpretation of ‘freedom’ is the ability it gives us to say and believe what we want to… and change it whenever we wish to.
There is actually no fixed definition of freedom… cannot be. If there is, there is not freedom.

No place for any of the doms that you’ve mentioned above in freedom. Except, of course, wisdom, which will give us the sanity to cherish and respect it. At least that is the hope!

Superb play of words…Freedom , as you rightly pointed , is not something to be bought or a mere habit…Its a spiritual feeling…A Freeness , aloof of the silly rules that often bog us down…
